True, there are a lot of reasons to use fossil fuel. Compared to alternative energy sources, they are easier to extract and convert from their raw form to electricity. After all, the energy companies just need to dig deep to unearth those fossil fuels and VIOLA! They are all set to be burned for everyone’s consumption.
Along with that, using conventional energy sources like gasoline and oil are more affordable than using alternative energy sources. For one thing, our wiring and power infrastructure have been made to take advantage of conventional power sources. If you are going to make the switch to alternative energy like solar panels, wind turbines, geothermal energy, etc., the major energy companies along with the everyone’s wiring and power structure need to be changed upside down. All of these can and have led to all sorts of tragic incidents resulting in the utter destruction of acres of ocean, killing humans, wildlife, and plant life as well.
Even if they are properly extracted and handled, as mentioned earlier, fossil fuels take a very taxing toll on our atmosphere. The combustion process that they undergo release all sorts of pollutants – sulfur dioxide (primary cause of acid rain), carbon dioxide (cause of greenhouse effect), and those are just to name a few.
